USA-grown peanuts’ popularity
keeps growing. According to Food Beat, Inc., Report of the
Top 200 National Restaurant Chains, there has been a 76% increase
of peanut mentions on menus over the past five years. And Information
Resources Inc. (I.R.I) which tracks supermarket purchases shows
a five-year trend increase in consumption of snack peanuts
of 76.8% and 10.6% for peanut butter.
There have been almost 1,000
new products with peanuts or peanut ingredients introduced
over the past five years.
Why is there such energy
behind this loveable legume? Peanuts are on trend. People love
the familiar taste and they love the exotic places that peanuts
naturally show up. With the growth in more healthful eating – but with consumers tired
of giving up flavor – peanuts fit the bill. Taste rules
and peanuts are known for the full-on flavor. We like to call
